2010-01-01   Mari Soler Joins Baldwin Connelly
   

01 January 2010–Mari Soler has joined Baldwin Connelly’s Employee Benefits Group as a Client Services Manager. Mari is responsible for the day-to-day servicing of clients including general account execution, problem solving, marketing, plan implementation, and communications. Mari’s experience includes eligibility updates/changes, ID card issuance, claims advocacy, payroll premium information, COBRA questions, plan verifications, FMLA/Inter FMLA administration verification, and fulfillment requests.

Mari developed and managed customized Open Enrollment processes for multi-state accounts, including developing and printing collaterals, updating eligibility files, and producing benefit statements. With nearly a decade of experience,

Mari started her career as a benefits administrator, gradually gaining the expertise to manage a team of benefits professionals responsible for the eligibility, administration, and escalated claims issue activities of national accounts. Mari is bilingual.

09 November 2009—Mark Jagor has joined Baldwin Connelly’s Private Risk Management team as an Advisor, working out of Atlanta, Georgia. Mark has over three years experience working with small businesses and affluent clientele. Prior to joining Baldwin Connelly, Mark worked for an independent agency out of Alpharetta, Georgia. Mark holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Management from the University of Georgia.

07 November 2009—Baldwin Connelly is once again the proud sponsor of the Rhino Club at Zoofari. In its 23rd year, Zoofari averaging over 4,000 attendees each year, features over 75 of the Tampa Bay area’s best restaurants and eateries as well as live entertainment by nationally known artists. All funds raised directly benefit the 1,700 animals living within the zoo’s care, extended services to over 1,200,000 annual visitors, and the zoo’s year-round environmental education programs. Funds raised from Zoofari 2009 will also go towards funding exciting new animal exhibits such as koala and great ape, both planned to be completed by 2011.

06 November 2009—Baldwin Connelly proudly supports the 6th Annual Junior League of Tampa Holiday Gift Market. Held at the Florida State Fairgrounds, the market hosts over 120 unique merchants from all over Florida and across the country and features everything from clothing and jewelry to food, art, and specialty items. Over the past five years, the Holiday Gift Market has helped put nearly $500,000 into the Junior League’s community projects in the areas of foster care, basic needs, education, and literacy.

06 November 2009—Baldwin Connelly is a proud sponsor of the Eighth Annual “Richard’s Run for Life” 5k, a Gonzmart Family Foundation event. 100% of all proceeds benefit the Amandelee Fund for Sarcoma Research at Moffitt Cancer Center. Several Baldwin Connelly colleagues as well as carrier reps participated in the race, held in historic Ybor City, and enjoyed the food and beverage at the post race party.

15 September 2009—Kathryn McKenna joins Baldwin Connelly’s Private Risk Management Group as a Relationship Manager. Kathryn was most recently an Account Director in the Private Risk Management department of Harden and Associates, specializing in the insurance needs of high net worth individuals. She has also been an Agency Manager for a national yacht and marine insurance broker. She has over 15 years experience in the insurance industry and holds an Associate of Personal Insurance designation with The Insurance Institute of America.
 
Kathryn has been active on committees for The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, The Tampa Club, and the Greater Tampa Association of Realtors. She also volunteers her time with The Abilities Foundation.
2009-09-14   Adam Taylor Joins Baldwin Connelly
   
14 September 2009—Adam Taylor joins Baldwin Connelly as an Advisor in the Commercial Risk Management Group. Prior to joining Baldwin Connelly, Adam held an outside sales position with Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. a manufacturer/wholesaler of construction products. While at Ferguson, Adam gained valuable experience in the construction industry, with a focus on site contractors. Adam’s responsibilities included project estimation, management of construction commodities, and the execution and distribution of statewide bid packages.
 
Adam is an active member in the Southern Underground Contractors Association and Marion County Road Builders Association. He holds a Bachelors Degree in General Business from the University of Florida.

08 September 2009—Denise Mitchum joins Baldwin Connelly as a Client Services Manager with the Employee Benefits Group. With over a decade of experience, Denise is responsible for the day-to-day servicing of clients including general account execution, problem solving, marketing, plan implementation, and communications.
 
Denise began her employee benefits/human resources career ten years ago while managing the employee benefits department for a large multi-location/multi-union industrial services corporation and federal contractor. In addition to overseeing all relative areas of the employees’ benefit package with respect to plan design, negotiation, implementation, and benefit reconciliation, she managed all aspects of Workers’ Compensation, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, and FMLA administration. Denise’s knowledge includes many areas of human resources management such as HRIS/payroll management systems, recruiting, government reporting, safety and training, and union negotiating.
 
Denise has been PHR certified for seven years.
2009-09-02   Baldwin Connelly Unveils New Clearwater Location
   
02 September 2009—The Baldwin Connelly Family of Companies—Baldwin Connelly, Carlisle Fields, and Nichols Insurance—hosted an Open House to unveil their new shared Clearwater offices. With offices in Tampa, Brandon, Safety Harbor, and Clearwater, the Pinellas offices were combined in one location in February 2009. Located downtown in the Bank of America building at 600 North Cleveland Street, the offices were designed to optimize the spectacular water views.
2009-08-17   Downtown Clearwater Becomes Investment for Three Bay Area Companies
   

Downtown Clearwater’s Cleveland Street District catches the eye of 3 companies in Tampa Bay as a great area to relocate during the incipient stages of the downtown’s expansion: Baldwin Connelly, Carlisle Fields & Company and Nichols Insurance have merged into the new Baldwin Connelly Family of Companies, and they make downtown Clearwater their new long-term location.

17 August 2009, Clearwater, Florida—Right in line with the Clearwater Downtown Partnership’s purpose for putting “feet on Cleveland Street” through their popular 4th Friday Clearwater events, three long-standing Tampa Bay companies recently merged and established their new headquarters in downtown Clearwater in the heart of the district: Baldwin Connelly, Carlisle Fields & Company and Nichols Insurance. The Baldwin Connelly Family of Companies has capabilities to address the insurance and risk management needs of nearly every individual and business in Florida. According to them the decision to move downtown was simple; the area was expanding and it seemed like a great time to get in on the ground floor and ride the wave.
 
The Clearwater Downtown Partnership’s 4th Friday Clearwater events have been very successful with an average of 1500-plus people in attendance at each one. The group started the events to bring interest and more business to downtown Clearwater. The arrival of the Baldwin Connelly Family of Companies, as well as several new restaurants to the area, is a welcomed reality to that vision.
 
When looking for a central location for their 60-plus staff, John Connelly, Founding Partner of Baldwin Connelly, said that downtown Clearwater was very appealing. The recent streetscape contributed a higher level of aesthetics to the area while the advent of new restaurants popping up showed promise of expansion.
 
“Our employees love it here,” said Pat Carlisle, a principal of Carlisle Fields & Company. “They like having places to walk to, get coffee and have lunch… and they especially like the view of the water right outside their office windows.”
 
The Baldwin Connelly Family of Companies are now located in the Bank of America building at 600 Cleveland Street. They are also new members of the Clearwater Downtown Partnership and are committed to helping shape downtown Clearwater’s renaissance. 
 
The 4th Friday Clearwater Schedule of Events for the rest of 2009 is:

·          October 22: the theme is centered around Halloween;

14 July 2009—The Tampa Bay Lightning has announced today that they have partnered with Baldwin Connelly to provide insurance & risk management consulting services. Baldwin Connelly has worked with the Lightning throughout the insurance renewal to look at strategic alternatives for the organization’s risk financing program architecture and is working with the organization to implement risk control and risk engineering programs to improve the efficacy of the current risk management framework.

Baldwin Connelly/Carlisle Fields/Nichols Insurance were Muse Sponsors of the 4th Annual Spring Gala, an enchanted evening at Ruth Eckerd Hall, to benefit the arts education programs of The Marcia P. Hoffman Performing Arts Institute.

Since its inception in 1984, the arts education programs at Ruth Eckerd Hall at the Richard B. Baumgardner Center for the Performing Arts have maintained a level of excellence both on site and outside its walls, serving the Tampa Bay Area, the state of Florida, and beyond.

The Marcia P. Hoffman Performing Arts Institute is based on the philosophy that the performing arts are integral to human development and essential to the quality of life of a community. Quality programming engages the community as a whole in an ongoing dialogue that strengthens the individual, Ruth Eckerd Hall, and the community at large. 2009-03-28   Baldwin Connelly Proudly Supports GreenFest 2009
   

28-29 March 2009--Baldwin Connelly is a proud contributor and participant in "GreenFest 2009," a two-day gardening festival featuring over 80 vendors plus workshops and demonstrations designed to give the Tampa Bay community an opportunity to learn more about the care and cultivation of indigenous plants and flowers. For the event, Baldwin Connelly created a "Going Green from Insurance Perspective" informational brochure outlining ideas on how to be more environmentally conscious in regards to your insurance program. Jennifer Baldwin, Green Private Risk Advisor, was a Volunteer Shift Leader for the weekend's festivities. This annual event is held at Plant Park on the historical campus of the University of Tampa.

The Friends of Plant Park, a non-profit volunteer organization, initiated GreenFest in 1997. The proceeds from GreenFest have allowed the restoration and additional enhancement of the historical garden, located in the heart of downtown Tampa. 09 March 2009--Fritz Archerd joins Baldwin Connelly as a Commercial Risk Management Advisor. Fritz is a long-time member of the Tampa business community. Prior to joining Baldwin Connelly he was active in the real estate development industry, most recently with The Archerd Company and, prior to that, Cheval Polo & Golf Club, Trammel Crow Company, and Turner Equity Investors. He has developed several residential, golf course, and commercial projects around the Tampa Bay area. He began his career in Tampa in 1977 in public accounting with Arthur Andersen & Co., CPAs.

From his background as a business owner, CFO, and public accountant, Fritz brings a unique perspective to commercial property and casualty insurance.
 
Fritz is a member of Christ the King Church and a former board member of Junior Achievement and the Gulf Ridge Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He received his BBA from Stetson University. Fritz and his wife, JoEllen, have three children and reside in Tampa, Florida.
